Step-by-step guide
Ingredients
This section details how Ingredients in TPD PRO serve as reusable components with toxicological data, forming the foundation of product Compositions.
What are Ingredients?
Ingredients in TPD PRO represent all individual chemical substances used in the formulation of e-liquids or other tobacco-related products. Each Composition (liquid formula) is made up of multiple Ingredients, and each Ingredient must be declared in EU-CEG submissions.
TPD PRO provides a powerful and reusable Ingredient Repository, allowing users to manage, reference, and validate ingredients efficiently across multiple products.
Key Features of the Ingredient Module
Centralized database of ingredients used in compositions
200+ preloaded common e-liquid ingredients, complete with CAS numbers and toxicological data
Manual addition of custom ingredients
Search, sort, and filter ingredients for quick access
Reusable across multiple Compositions and Submissions
How to Add an Ingredient
Navigate to Ingredients in the left-hand menu
Click “Create”
Enter the following required information:
Name — Common or chemical name of the ingredient
CAS Number — Unique Chemical Abstracts Service number (e.g., 57-55-6 for Propylene Glycol)
Function — Role in the composition (e.g., flavor, solvent, base)
Toxicological Profile (optional)
Additional fields (e.g., supplier, REACH data, if available)
Click “Save”
✅ Once added, the ingredient becomes available in the Composition builder and can be used repeatedly.
Reusability
An Ingredient is created once and then reused across any number of Compositions
If you update an ingredient’s data (e.g., CAS number correction), the change is reflected in all future Compositions, but not retroactively in submitted ones
Best Practices
Always double-check CAS numbers for accuracy
Use consistent naming conventions for clarity (e.g., "L-Menthol" vs. "Menthol")
Group ingredients by function or volatility for better management
Avoid duplicating ingredients with slight name variations — search first before adding
